Midway between Chicago and Minneapolis lies Stevens Point, Wisconsin, a lovely destination that combines small-town charm and warm, friendly service with big-city amenities. Stevens Point is easy to get to nestled in the center of Wisconsin off Interstate 39 and just fifteen minutes from the Central Wisconsin Airport.
1. Great value + service. The Stevens Point area offers planners fantastic value and a great price point with abundant amenities and unrivaled customer service. What’s more, the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau provides a variety of services at no charge to help make planning a meeting or convention here easy.
2. Growing art scene. Throughout the year, enjoy live theater and dance, take in the local music scene (including the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra), explore galleries (like the artist-owned Q Gallery Artist Co-operative, Tomorrow River Gallery, or the Scarabocchio Art Museum), and see local artists in action at events like the annual Hidden Studios Art Tour. Visitors are impressed by the vast quantity of public art here, including murals and the Stevens Point Sculpture Park.
3. Flavors worth exploring. Stop by the Central Waters Brewing Company and try some “Shine On,” made with Wisconsin-grown organic barley. A portion of the proceeds support the nations' largest renewable Energy Fair held in the Stevens Point Area each June. Three other breweries also serve up great (and tasty) stops -- O'so Brewing Company in Plover, the Stevens Point Brewery, and the Kozy Yak Brewing Company in Rosholt. Don’t miss the longest running farmer’s market in the state on the square in Downtown Stevens Point, the growing power at the Central Rivers Farmshed's Greenhouse, or the year-round indoor farmers market at the Market on Strongs.
4. Great Facilities. With a mixture of new and renovated facilities, the Stevens Point Area has a range of traditional meeting venues. The Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention Center has 30,000 square feet of convention space, while the Best Western Plover possesses a modern feel and works well for smaller groups.
5. Non-Traditional Sites + Facilities. For the large group of up to 1,500, SentryWorld boasts more than 60,000 square feet of flexible space, conveniently located near several hotels, along with access to the SentryWorld Golf Course. For small groups, the Schmeeckle Reserve is tucked away on the UWSP Campus and offers meeting space with a view of the 280-acre nature preserve, plus easy access to five miles of trails for guests to explore. For a moderate-sized group, the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station has over 200-acres with recently renovated buildings, overlooking beautiful Sunset Lake.
