Madison, Wisconsin

Profile

Come admire and enjoy the jewel of Wisconsin – the capital city of Madison. Located just 77 miles west of Milwaukee and 122 miles northwest of Chicago, Madison is centrally located and easily accessible by many major highways. Known as The City of Four Lakes, Madison is often a top pick on a number of “Best Of” lists and easily one of the most picturesque state capitals in the country. The pros at Destination Madison would be thrilled to show you why their city, with its two premier convention facilities, year-round activities, thousands of hotel rooms, scores of attractions and a wealth of cultural opportunities, shopping and restaurants, would be the ideal choice for your next event, whether for 10 people or 10,000.

Top 5 reasons to book your event In Madison, Wisconsin

1. Unparalleled Customer Service. Destination Madison realizes the importance of exceptional customer service. The Convention Services Department offers the highest level of service while positioning itself as an integral part of the sales process, proactively focusing on the customer while specifically customizing their services to each meeting that comes to Madison. From registration and housing assistance, to brochure production and volunteer management, Destination Madison prides itself on a unique experience in Madison that will enrich convention attendees, both emotionally and intellectually. Going>Beyond>Visit isn’t just their tagline; it’s the business credo that they live by each day and with every group that visits.

2. As Green As It Gets. Madison has long been recognized as a “green destination.”  They take pride in the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, designated in September of 2007 as a Silver Level LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Existing Building) green certified building by the U.S. Green Building Council. Monona Terrace is one of the first existing convention centers in the U.S. to receive such a certification, and the only silver level certified convention center in the U.S. In 2011, 100 percent of electrical energy at Monona Terrace was wind-generated and renewable. The convention center uses, on average, 49 percent less energy than other convention center in similar climatic areas. What’s more, Madison has an impressive environmental legacy, including being the first city in the nation to institute curbside recycling. Earth Day originated in Madison and Madison was home to noted naturalists John Muir and Aldo Leopold. Green isn’t just our favorite color, it’s how we live.

3. Location, location, location.  A compact, walkable mid-sized metropolis just a short drive from Chicago, Minneapolis and other major centers, Madison is a world-class city that never forgets its small town roots. With the flagship campus of the University of Wisconsin and the state Capitol building, Madison is a great place to tour as well as spend time outdoors no matter what the season. In our warmer months (April-November), many visitors enjoy the city’s first class biking trails. In fact, Madison is considered one of the nation’s best cities in which to cycle by a number of national media outlets. With over 200 miles of off-road multiuse bike trails in Dane County, biking in Madison and its surrounding communities offers a scenic view of our plentiful green spaces, and a great way to explore Madison and Dane County.

4. Unexpected Value. Planners are surprised to find such friendly, enthusiastic people truly committed to the successful outcome of their event, the quantity of services that are available and the fact that Destination Madison provides these services at no charge. Because Destination Madison has such vast knowledge of the Madison area and strong connections to the area hotels and meeting facilities, planners consistently rave about what an exceptional value they find in working with the “one-stop shop” at Destination Madison.

5. Something for Everyone. Madison is home to two premier convention facilities – Alliant Energy Center and Monona Terrace® Community and Convention Center – giving the city the versatility to host groups from 10 to 10,000. The area also boasts several other conference facilities, perfect for mid-size and smaller meetings. Plus, Madison offers planners and attendees more than 9,000 hotel rooms, an abundance of diverse and low-cost attractions, innumerable cultural opportunities, fabulous shopping and a wealth of restaurants, in addition to a wonderful array of outdoor activities all year long.
