While shiny, new and modern locales can lend a contemporary kick to your gathering, there’s really something to be said for holding your winter event at a venue that is classic, sophisticated and timeless. Spend time at many of these and you’ll notice a sense of history in the architecture, grandeur in the surroundings, and quite simply, culture in the air.
Winter events demand splendor in unforgettable places! Choosing a venue such as Celebration on Wells Catering with its charming ambiance, vaulted ceilings, fireplace and spacious dance floor will meet that demand and then some. If it’s rustic elegance you seek, look no further than the two locations of Badger Farms. The Barn, (a newly renovated 1920s barn) and The Shop, (an enclosed pavilion connected to the barn) are tucked away on 500 acres of idyllic Wisconsin countryside. A sense of history pervades the Fluno Center at the University of Wisconsin Madison where the interior reflects the design principles of Frank Lloyd Wright with the natural elegance of the Arts and Crafts era. Choose from atrium, auditorium, courtyard, break out rooms and even guest rooms onsite. The Florian Gardens welcome your guests into a beautiful banquet facility with three large ballrooms, food presentation and spectacular views, while Davian’s Banquet + Conference Center offers the perfect space to host a tasteful event with two large ballrooms for as many as 250 guests.
Even in the winter months, golf and country clubs offer picturesque and refined settings. For many, SentryWorld Sport Center + Golf Course - with its majestic clubhouse and beautiful banquet space overlooking the course - is the definition of exquisite. Still others would point to the excellent cuisine, stunning course views and sprawling banquet facilities at Troy Burne Golf Club as an excellent choice. Then again, why not visit River Falls Golf Club where rolling hills and the rural landscape of the scenic St. Croix valley provide breathtaking views from the clubhouse. And while grand is great, simple fun can be outstanding too. Vitense Golfland offers a great experience with 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages, trampolines, water balloon slingshots, climbing walls and other entertaining team building activities.
For those who want stylish surroundings and mouthwatering menu options, restaurants offer the perfect blend of gourmet choices with gracious surroundings. To that end, the fare at Saz's State House + Catering has been voted one of Milwaukee’s Best, two years in a row. The majestic building offers a comfortable atmosphere with rich wood architectural accents, etched glass windows and custom designed wooden bar. Marq Banquet + Catering at Lineville Road dazzles guests with delicious menu options, flexible meeting and event space, along with an English pub-style bar with rich mahogany woodwork and an old time atmosphere. The always popular Francesca's al Lago attracts those looking for the authentic cuisine of Rome, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio in an Italian style eatery with lofty ceilings and striking photos of rural Italian life gracing the walls. From humble beginnings as a converted log cabin to its current evolution of prairie-style architecture, Del Bar has been a local favorite since 1930.
If you’re counting on classy, don’t count out community centers. The days when these locations were just a spot to play basketball are long gone. Instead, they are vibrant places like the Onalaska Omnicenter offering two large arenas, an expansive conference room and full kitchen facilities. Or Creekside Place with flexible floor plan and space for up to 200 attendees, plus kitchen facilities as well.
With all the choices available for your winter event, why not go with the tried, the true and the timeless?
