Accommodating Iowa Accommodations — Full-Service, Select-Service, Limited-Service, and Boutique Hote

When it comes to picking a hotel, it’s nice to have choices. Especially when those choices allow you to choose the hotel you want with the services and amenities you need. Whether your guests are simply stopping over for one night, or in town for the week, these Iowa hotels are more than accommodating.

Full-Service Hotels

For the ultimate in hotel stays, you can’t go wrong with a full-service hotel. You’ll find everything you need here, from laundry to shuttle services, full restaurants and bars, to spa and exercise facilities, room service, and more. Full-service hotels are a bit pricier but well worth it for the traveler who must stay for more than a few days.

Some full-service hotels we recommend:

Des Moines Marriott Downtown. Conveniently located in the vibrant downtown business district, the Des Moines Marriott is close to the DSM Airport, nearby shops, dining, and nightlife. Luxury hotel rooms and suites feature comfy bedding, stunning city views, flat screen TVs, WiFi and deluxe bath products. Two restaurants serve up innovative American cuisine, while the fitness center and pool provide a place to blow off steam after a long day.

Ramada Des Moines Airport. Close to both downtown and the airport, the Ramada offers comfortable accommodations and a host of amenities. Guests enjoy the benefits of airport shuttle, business center, fitness center, free breakfast, free parking, free WiFi, indoor pool, RV parking, 8000 square feet of event space, and on-site restaurant.

Bridges Bay Resort. Check in and check out Bridges Bay Resort’s waterfront hotel condos with full kitchens and hotel-style rooms, all with patios or decks. Make a splash at the waterpark and outdoor pool, fill up at any of the five on-site restaurants, get your thrills on the SkyRider Zipline, or quench your thirst at Bracco Beach Bar.

Honey Creek Resort. Multiple lodging options include The Lodge on Rathbun Lake, The Cottages at Rathbun Lake, and the RV Park. Tee off at the 18-hole championship golf course, enjoy tempting culinary delights at the Rathbun Lakeshore Grill Restaurant, delight in the gorgeous views, indoor water park, business center, and fitness center, or just kick back and relax watching the 40-inch flat-screen TV in your room.

Harrah’s Council Bluffs Casino & Hotel. Harrah’s invites guests to relax in the spacious hotel with deluxe rooms and suites, some with beautiful views and electronic features such as an iPod/iPad docking station and 47-inch flat screen TV. Gamers can try their hand at slots, pull tables, bingo, Blackjack and more. Vegas-style entertainment, three dining options, and golf make this casino hotel a winning choice.

Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort. A delightful Vegas-inspired casino, Grand Falls’ guests luxuriate in the spacious hotel, test their luck on the gaming floor, reduce stress in the spa or pool, and enjoy the fabulous cuisine at one of their many restaurants. Live entertainment and shopping on site make this place the perfect get-away.

Select- or Limited-Service Hotels

Select- or limited-service hotels offer the best in comfort with fewer amenities than a full-service hotel. Many may offer guests perks such as a complimentary continental breakfast, business center or fitness room, plus small meeting rooms. These hotels are easy on the budget and perfect for a quick layover or the overnight traveler.

Boutique Hotels

Independent and luxurious, boutique hotels offer upscale facilities with fewer rooms. They are often in unique locations and are typically high-class. These hotels leave important guests feeling pampered with lots of amenities, such as in-room WiFi, 24-hour desk service, mini-bar, custom toiletries, spa services, and highly-personalized service.

These Boutique hotels are worth exploring:

Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel. This newly renovated historic hotel is connected to the Des Moines Skywalk system and just steps from popular destinations. Guest rooms and suites possess simple elegance with 49” TVs, Keurig Coffee machines, walk-in showers, and WiFi.  Dining options include Scopri where culinary classics are reinvented, and the Coda Lounge for modern street food, shareable bites, and classic speakeasy cocktails.

Hotel Julien Dubuque. Comfort and personalized service are the hallmarks of this hotel with its 133 elegant rooms and suites. Amenities abound with complimentary WiFi, indoor pool, whirlpool and fitness center, and full-service spa. Caroline’s Restaurant offers classic American cuisine with a twist,  while the Riverboat Lounge serves up craft cocktails and fine wines.
