Ottumwa, Iowa (June 8, 2020) – The Greater Ottumwa CVB has launched a comprehensive marketing plan to bring visitors back to Ottumwa in the wake of the COVID 19 Pandemic. The three phased plan began in April and will run through the balance of the summer. A detailed description of the plan is laid out in the attached document.
In addition, the Greater Ottumwa CVB is working with other CVB offices throughout the state on a joint marketing campaign. The campaign will include a mix of print, digital, and social media targeting audiences in Chicago, Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and major Iowa urban centers. The campaign will include ads that will drive traffic to a landing page hosted on the Travel Iowa website. The costs of this are being significantly reduced due to a $137,000 match from Gannet/Des Moines register. The projected roll out date is July 1st.
Finally, the CVB has completed a groups video aimed at attracting meetings and conferences to Ottumwa. Instead of just showing scenes of Ottumwa the video tells a story by having the camera act as an actual conference attendee. The CVB has imbedded the video on their web site and it can be viewed at: https://www.greaterottumwacvb.org/gatherings/. The video will also be used sales presentations, RFP’s and in social media posts.
