SAINT PAUL, MN - February 3, 2010 Merrill “Dutch” Cragun, owner of Cragun’s Resort, was named “Outstanding Individual in Tourism” at the Conference on Tourism for his long-term work on behalf of the Minnesota tourism industry. Cragun took over management of his family’s resort in 1957, and over the decades continued expansion of Cragun’s into one of Minnesota’s largest resorts.
The “Sustainable Tourism Award” was presented to Madden’s on Gull Lake and the University of Minnesota Tourism Center was recognized with a “Friend of Tourism Award.” Marketing Awards of Excellence were presented to Destination Bloomington, Lake City Tourism Bureau, and the Morrissey Hospitality Company's Saint Paul Hotel. Marketing Awards of Merit were presented to Destination Bloomington, the Ely Chamber of Commerce, Grand Portage Lodge and Casino, and Mall of America/Destination Bloomington.
