Plan for a new luxury hotel in downtown Stillwater are still a go.
Developer Corey Burstad told Stillwater City Council members this week that Stillwater Caves LLC is close to getting financing for a 40-room boutique hotel in the Joseph Wolf Brewery block.
"We're still fully engaged, and we're working hard towards meeting deadlines with the city," Burstad said Thursday. "The project is on track, and we hope to be able to have all the final approvals before year-end."
In addition to the hotel, Burstad's company plans a restaurant and retail space on the site. The hotel should open in 2015, he said.
The city council in June approved $1.15 million in tax-increment funds for the project.
"It's an important building and it occupies a key location downtown, so we really want to see something succeed," said Community Development Director Bill Turnblad.
