The Twin Cities chapter of NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) named Mintáhoe Hospitality Group the recipient of the 2007 “Best On-Premise Catered Event of the Year” award at the organization’s annual awards banquet, held May 7. The winning event, a “Rockin’ 90th Birthday Celebration” for local music industry legend and community leader Amos Heilicher, was held this past November at Nicollet Island Pavilion.
Entries were judged on elements including food & beverage presentation, and event theme & décor. Amos’ celebration included a variety of culinary performance stations where guests could customize their cuisine and interact with Mintáhoe’s Chefs. A custom built salad “Bar” (photo), a make-your-own ice cream mix-in station (photo), a stunning Asian station, and a plexiglass buffet suspended from the ceiling were all highlights of the affair. Fun touches, including butler-passed mini Vienna beef hot dogs and a gourmet selection of artisan breads and spreads – applied with paintbrushes, gave guests the opportunity to connect with their inner-kid!
To honor Amos’ musical background and to celebrate memories of yesteryear, theme and décor carried a nostalgic sentiment with a nod to the 50’s and 60’s. Décor included custom designed food displays, lounge areas, specialty linens and florals. Unique touches - such as mini Soma Record Company vinyl albums, were used as coasters, in food signage and even as the building materials for a hanging wall divider.
