Minneapolis, MN - The Minneapolis Northwest Convention & Visitors Bureau has officially launched a new mobile app, Visit MplsNW.
This easy to use app is a handheld visitors guide, featuring information on hotels and hundreds of bars & restaurants in the Minneapolis Northwest area. It also includes attractions, entertainment & recreation options throughout the entire Minneapolis/ St. Paul metro and houses an events calendar, all in one place.
"We're very excited about the launch of the Visit MplsNW mobile app. It is a great tool for visitors to both plan out their trip ahead of time and also to use throughout their stay," says Executive Director, Dave Looby.
The app is GPS enabled to show users what's nearby, how far away their destinations are, and give directions. Special features include an itinerary builder, giving users the ability to 'favorite' points of interest and save them all in one place; suggested itineraries that are tailored to a variety of interests; and a personalized events calendar allowing users to view upcoming events, share them, and save them to their smartphone calendar.
Mobile apps, which were considered to be a fad a few years ago, have now cemented their place in the mobile world. Research by app analytics provider, Flurry, has shown that app use is growing and now accounts for 86% of all mobile device usage. Yet, this is one of the first official visitors apps for the Twin Cities area created by a tourism organization.
"We were surprised to find virtually no free, quality tourism apps for the Minneapolis area," Looby says. "With people so reliant on their mobile devices these days, we wanted to fill that void for travelers. Our goal is to provide the best tools we can to enhance the visitor experience."
The Visit MplsNW app can be downloaded in the App Store or Google Play.
