The Minneapolis City Center Marriott is undergoing a customized $25 million renovation that will revamp guest rooms, the hotel's lobby, entrance, and restaurants.
According to General Manager, Tom Chase, the renovations extend through all rooms, including the bi-level suites in the hotel. Slated for completion in September, the downtown Minneapolis hotel hopes to position itself as a premier meeting destination where guests can work during the day and take advantage of the nightlife to unwind.
"We hope to exceed visitor expectations, and take a hip and balanced approach to customer segments," Chase said. "We are in the center of the business district and want travelers to feel welcome and comfortable while on the road."
Incorporating the most dramatic changes since the hotel's opening in 1983, the renovations are noticeable with new sense of arrival. The Minneapolis hotel will replace the Marriott's awning and install new sidewalk pavers, and a brushed stainless steel entryway with cherrywood and accent lights will welcome guests into the hotel.
Marble-top check-in counters will be replaced with personalized check-in pods, and a self check-in that will allow customers to select their own rooms. Individual stations will let guests further relax while getting work accomplished. The lobby will also have the feel of a place to meet and mingle with friends and colleagues before enjoying dinner here or at one of the many local restaurants in the downtown area.
The hotel's Minneapolis restaurant, Northern Shores Grill will take on a fresh look and feel with simple, fresh, and chef crafted food. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Northern Shores Grill will focus on offering guests contemporary American cuisine - real food that's perfectly executed with premium ingredients. Look for this new and exciting restaurant to open in August 2007.
Guest rooms are now more comfortable at the Minneapolis hotel with the incorporation of Marriott's new Revive bedding, which includes 300-thread-count linens, and new duvet covers. Rooms were also revamped to show new furniture, carpeting and bathrooms. The hotel is also one of the first Marriotts to incorporate the China Rain urban hotel scent into the air circulation system.
