The Marquette Hotel at IDS Center will undergo a $2 million renovation early next year.
All 281 guest rooms will receive new carpet, paint, drapes and sheers. They'll also get some new finishes, including bed skirts and lamps.
The hotel will brighten up the rooms by removing the stationary drapes that have covered one of the two full walls of windows within each room.
"We're going to open up the cityscape and skyline," General Manager Todd Temperly said.
The lobby, meanwhile, will get new carpet, paint and art.
Construction will begin Feb. 2 and be completed by mid-April. The guest room upgrades will be completed in phases, allowing the hotel to remain open throughout the project.
Design Atelier is the architect on the project. The hotel will pick a contractor within the next few weeks.
The Marquette Hotel's last major guest room renovation was about a decade ago, though the bathrooms were updated four years ago.
"It's held up really nicely, but it's time," Temperly said.
The hotel's sister property, the 821-room Hilton Minneapolis, is currently undergoing a $14 million room renovation that should be completed in March.
