Thursday, a gift of $5,000 was presented to the American Red Cross – North Central Wisconsin Chapter to support the flood relief efforts in the Wisconsin Rapids & Nekoosa area. These funds will help cover expenses incurred by the Red Cross as they assisted families with hotel stays, food supplies, clothing, clean-up kits, comfort kits and other expenses related to the flooding. The local Red Cross sheltered eleven families providing 56 nights of lodging as well as financial assistance. In addition, 75 clean-up kits were distributed to affected homes in Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids.
In 2008, the Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa partnered with the American Red Cross donating a disaster trailer for emergencies such as this. This trailer was activated this past weekend. It helped the Red Cross bring immediate emergency relief supplies to the victims of the flooding.
When disaster strikes, many community resources come together to address community needs. All Fire and Rescue personnel, law enforcement, and county human service agencies work together to respond and support those affected. Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa continues to be a strong community partner by supporting emergency management and our community resources.
Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa continues its community outreach this coming weekend October 1 – 2, as they host a Charity Concert Weekend. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit equipment needs for Nekoosa Fire and Ambulance.
