TOWER – Fortune Bay Resort Casino is pulling out all the stops in anticipation of its 27th anniversary celebration.
Not only will there be two outdoor concerts under the big tent, but there will also be a huge outdoor game show during Anniversary Week, which is scheduled for October 20-27.
However, that trio of events is just the main entrée as there are plenty of other activities.
Fortune Bay’s management team has also decided to go back to its roots by hosting Anniversary Bingo featuring over $14,000 in payouts — including a $5,000 cover all game. The latter should draw plenty of interest in FBRC’s old mainstay, which was the base of the company when it opened in 1986.
“Our goal is to provide activities that appeal to our entire customer base,” said Fortune Bay Resort Casino’s General Manager Norm Adams. “And with the activities that we have planned — we feel very confident that our customers will enjoy coming out to help celebrate with us.”
In an effort to reconnect with some of our longtime customers as well as new ones, management will be taking part in a Beat the Boss Blackjack Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 23. There will also be a regular Blackjack Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 27, plus a $27,000 slot tournament Monday and Tuesday, October 21-22. Anniversary week will wrap up with large cash drawings on Sunday, Oct. 27, beginning at 5 p.m.
As mentioned, there are also two outdoor concerts under the large tent. The first is classic rock and roll artist, Blue Oyster Cult, who will be taking the stage on Thursday, Oct. 24. Some of this band’s top songs include Burning for You, Godzilla and Don’t Fear The Reaper.
Friday’s Game Show Extravaganza promises to be an extremely entertaining event, as Fortune Bay’s very own Bob Villebrun will be headlining the activities. Villebrun said his goal will be to get a lot of audience participation throughout the event, which will feature many favorite game shows from years past.
“We’re going to have a lot of humor and a lot of trivia about Fortune Bay’s 27 year history,” said Villebrun, who is the events and promotions manager. “We might even have some karaoke going on. It’s going to be fabulous! I’m going to be in rare form buddy — rare form!”
The Game Show Extravaganza will take place in the outdoor tent, where 600 chairs will be set up for the audience. There will also be cash bars set up around the perimeter of the tent, not to mention a lot of open space for people to kick back and enjoy the show.
Saturday will be another huge day in commemorating Fortune Bay’s anniversary as Hairball will be performing in the outdoor tent. The tribute band has been a staple at Fortune Bay since 2008.
Prior to the concert, Fortune Bay’s Costume Contest will take place in the Woodlands Ballroom. The costume contest has also been an event that continues to grow, thanks in large part to added prize money, but also because customers look forward to it as one of the region’s best party.
The resort will also get into the anniversary spirit by introducing Lucky Rooms throughout the month. Going along with the 27th anniversary theme, the resort will designate 27 lucky rooms every day in which guests entering one of the 27 random rooms will receive $27 Fortune Play or $27 toward dinner purchases in the Tamarack Restaurant. The much-acclaimed Sunset Steakhouse is also featuring an anniversary special Sunday, Oct, 27, featuring two chateaubriand steak dinners for $27.
