A fire early Saturday morning extensively damaged the Cold Water Canyon Clubhouse at Chula Vista Resort.
Kilbourn Assistant Fire Chief Marty Platt said the fire started in the dining room of Big Moe’s restaurant in the clubhouse near a wood burning fireplace. The call came in at 6:21 a.m. Saturday and when firefighters arrived, flames were through the roof.
The firefighters knocked down the flames within 30 minutes of arrival, Platt said, but crews were on the scene until 10:16 a.m. The building was unoccupied at the time. No one was injured in the fire or while fighting it.
Delton Fire, Oxford Fire and Baraboo assisted the Kilbourn Fire Department. Kilbourn had an engine, its ladder truck and squad at the fire while Delton sent its engine and tower trucks. Baraboo and Oxford each send an engine to the scene.
The clubhouse includes Big Moe’s restaurant and the golf course pro shop.
Mike Kaminski, owner of Chula Vista, did not return calls Saturday for comment.
The Chula Vista Cold Water Canyon Golf web pages listed both the pro shop and Big Moe’s as closed.
