The Convention Industry Council (CIC) released the 2016 edition of its CIC Industry Glossary. The CIC Glossary aims to provide the most comprehensive guide to terminology in the industry.
“As the industry evolves so does the terminology, updating the glossary was a necessary step in improving the resources we offer,” said CIC CEO, Karen Kotowski CAE, CMP. “We are proud of this collaborative project that used industry experts and our CMP community.”
Over 150 CMP volunteers contributed to the update lead by APEX Standards Committee Members Gary Murakami of MGM Resorts International and Carol Norfleet of Destination Nashville.
With approximately 1,400 terms defined, the CIC Industry Glossary is a key reference for the specialized terminology and acronyms used throughout the convention industry. Notable additions to the 2016 version include a British/English style guide and an appendix on bandwidth terms.
The CIC Industry Glossary is part of recommended CMP Study Materials, and serves as a resource for industry professionals and hospitality students. It’s available for purchase on the CIC website.
