A recent search was held to find the best hotel in Iowa of which almost 500 were evaluated.
And, the winner was ...
Ameristar Casino Hotel of Council Bluffs.
“We are so proud of this award,” said Christie Scott, casino spokeswoman.
The hotel was ranked No. 1 out of 488 Iowa hotels by the U.S. News and World Report for its Best Hotels of 2015 list. The fifth annual Best Hotels rankings evaluate more than 2,500 luxury properties across the United States where evaluations are determined by numerous factors, Scott said.
“The evaluation is determined by travel experts, guest sentiments, hotel ratings and reviews, and on additional awards.”
This is how U.S. News and World Report described its impressions of this Bluffs hotel along the Missouri River.
“You’ll find 38,500 square feet of gaming and gambling at the Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs. Most visitors say the rooms are perfectly adequate for a few days’ stay thanks to amenities like large LED TVs and complimentary high-speed Internet access. And when testing Lady Luck – or soaking in the hotel pool and sauna – works up your appetite, you’ll have five on-site restaurants to choose from. Situated on River Road and overlooking the Missouri River, the complex sits near the Nebraska-Iowa state line.”
“We are thrilled to be recognized and receive Iowa’s Best Hotel award,” said Monty Terhune, Ameristar Casino Vice President and General Manager. “Ameristar Casino Hotel is a beautiful AAA Four Diamond full-service hotel and I’m so proud of our team members who work hard every day to deliver award-winning service and who make Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs an exceptional property.”
That’s not all.
AAA has also given the hotel its high rating - the Four Diamond award.
“We’re one out of three hotels in Iowa to get this award and the only one on the western side of Iowa,” Scott said, adding that the other two hotels so honored are in Cedar Rapids and Davenport.
Ameristar features 160 luxurious rooms that are tastefully decorated and many include panoramic views of the mighty Missouri River. The hotel also had 32 whirlpool King Spa suites and eight Octagon luxury suites available.
