Global hospitality company Benchmark has expanded its presence in the Midwest by adding to its Benchmark Resorts and Hotels portfolio The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa in Lake Geneva, WI, it announced yesterday.
"We are delighted to be moving forward with such a highly esteemed, well-respected hospitality management provider as Benchmark," said Cary Kerger, owner of The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa. "With the expertise and elite customer service of the Benchmark Resorts & Hotels brand portfolio, this new partnership is an excellent match for The Abbey Resort's top priority of providing an exceptional guest experience."
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva -- a popular getaway for urbanites in nearby Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee -- The Abbey occupies 90 wooded acres on which it offers 334 guest rooms and suites; 14 vacation villas; five restaurants and bars, including its signature restaurant 240° West; a 35,000-square-foot spa that was recently remodeled, which features a salon, fitness center, and private sunlit pool; and 40,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space encompassing more than two dozen meeting rooms, a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, and a separate 6,000-square-foot conference center.
"We are very excited to expand our presence in the Midwest with such a prominent resort in an area of stunning natural beauty and historic interest," said Benchmark CEO Alex Cabañas. "The Abbey Resort has perfectly preserved its remarkable setting while looking to the future with vision and contemporary, experiential offerings for its guests."
The Abbey -- known for its signature A-frame roof exterior -- joins two other Midwest properties in Benchmark's portfolio: Wingspread Retreat & Executive Conference Center in Racine, WI, and Eaglewood Resort & Spa in suburban Chicago.
