Scarlet Kitchen & Bar, Red Wing’s Dining Destination

The historic St. James Hotel warmly invites diners to an unmatched dining experience at their new restaurant, Scarlet Kitchen & Bar. A member of Historic Hotels of America, the St. James announced the highly anticipated opening of Scarlet Kitchen & Bar in phases.

Shea, the appointed design firm, began the major renovation in December 2019 and faced a world-halting event, the COVID-19 pandemic, delaying the opening date. Scarlet Kitchen &
Bar occupies the space once called The Veranda Restaurant, absorbing its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Mississippi River and modern patio. Scarlet’s design incorporates Red Wing history with a custom high-top table made with Red Wing Pottery to leather accents from the Hotel’s parent company, Red Wing Shoes. The stylish interior presents a transitional design, blending Victorian elegance and contemporary flare to accent St. James Hotel fashion.

“Scarlet interprets the city of Red Wing, magnifying the town’s unique history and allure through design elements,” said Jennifer Olson, Director of Food & Beverage at the St. James Hotel. “The menu is influenced by regional cuisine and sourced with local ingredients. Our culinary team recreated community-inspired family recipes with a modern twist for guests to truly experience a taste of Southern Minnesota”.

The St. James Hotel is independently owned and operated by the Red Wing Shoe Company since 1977. This boutique hotel features 67-rooms each designed and decorated with its own story to tell, 17,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, two restaurants, a coffee shop, a hair salon, a flower shop, a medi-spa and a clothing store.
