A new DoubleTree hotel has opened in the Twin Cities, according to Hilton Worldwide, which today announced the debut of DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - University Area.
"This year, the City of Lakes will continue to increase in popularity amongst travelers, with Minneapolis playing host to major cultural events and exhibits, such as the reopening of the Walker Sculpture Garden following extensive renovations," said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. "It is an ideal locale for our newest hotel, where we can welcome guests with the little things that make travel a treat, beginning with our signature, warm DoubleTree Cookie."
Located on the campus of the University of Minnesota, on the site of a former noodle factory, the new-build hotel has 141 guest rooms; an onsite restaurant specializing in steaks, seafood, and chops; a bar; a 24-hour market; a 24-hour fitness center; a heated indoor pool and whirlpool; and 6,500 square feet of meeting space, including a ballroom for groups of up to 350 guests, as well as five smaller breakout rooms.
Featuring a contemporary look that Hilton describes as "soft urban glamour," highlights of the new property include its art -- the hotel features artwork from local artists that commemorates well-known bridges located on or near the University of Minnesota -- and its design, which combines earth tones with blue accents in tribute to the nearby Mississippi River.
"From its contemporary design to its upscale amenities, our new hotel offers travelers to this bustling area of the Twin Cities all the comforts of home, and more," said General Manager Joe McCurdy. "We are delighted to provide guests with the warmth, kindness, and attentive service that DoubleTree by Hilton is known for worldwide."
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - University Area is the Twin Cities' fifth DoubleTree hotel. It joins the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis - Park Place, the DoubleTree By Hilton - Bloomington Minneapolis South, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis North, and the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis.
