A Element by Westin hotel opened Tuesday in Bloomington, joining a growing crowd of new hotels near the Mall of America.
The seven-story, 142-room Element Bloomington Mall of America is located at 2400 E. 82nd St., across the street from MOA's east side and three miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
The hotel is a Marriott franchise, part of Marriott International, owned and managed by Park City, Utah-based developer Terratron — one of Bloomington’s most prominent actors near MOA.
Many of the rooms include fully-equipped kitchens, work space and spa-inspired bathrooms. Guests will have access to Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime and HBO Go on their room’s HDTV. Wi-fi is complimentary throughout the hotel.
The new hotel also features Studio Commons Connector rooms, which offers a large communal space with adjacent guest rooms, designed for friends or families traveling together or coworkers collaborating on a project.
The hotel features amenities like an indoor saline swimming pool, whirlpool spa and fitness center. For guests who are looking to explore the surrounding areas, the hotel near light rail access and also offers features a complimentary Bikes-to-Borrow program, offering bicycles and helmets to guests.
While the Element has unique features, hotel developments have become frequent in the area.
In 2017, Terratron opened an AC Hotel by Marriott at the corner of 26th Avenue South and Lindau Lane, adjacent to the company's Marriott Towneplace Suites, which the company opened before that. Terratron now has three hotels within a one block stretch.
Other developers have been busy, too, ranging from the large-scale, full-service developments like the Radisson Blu and JW Marriott at Mall of America, to a slew of smaller limited-service and extended-stay hotels.
In addition to the new hotel's proximity to MOA, the hotel could also end up being close to one of the largest water parks in the nation.
