OSHKOSH (WLUK) -- An expansion, decades in the making, is breaking ground in Oshkosh.
EAA will expand its Oshkosh aviation center for the first time in more than 20 years.
Officials broke ground on the 30,000-square-foot addition on Monday.
EAA hopes it will bring year-round aviation education and training.
The two-story facility will host EAA's Pilot Proficiency Center on the main floor -- which includes Red Bird flight simulators.
The second floor will hold the new Youth Aviation Center, where kids can use hands-on exhibits to learn STEM through aviation.
Fundraising is 90% complete for the $6.2 million project.
Construction should be complete by Spring 2022.
