The Northfield Chamber of Commerce & Tourism announced Jan. 17 that Lisa Peterson has been selected as the Chamber's new president. On Jan. 16, the Chamber's Board of Directors voted to approve Peterson for the position. She will begin work on Feb. 1.
"I am excited for this opportunity," said Peterson. "I have learned so much over the last three-plus years of working at the Chamber. Tourism and the Chamber work hand-in-hand, and I look forward to working with both organizations to promote our city and our business community."
Lisa is currently the Director of Tourism for the Northfield Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is a division of the Northfield Chamber. Prior to her work at the Chamber, she owned a small freelance marketing company and was the marketing specialist at Northfield Lines for over seven years.
"Lisa Peterson was the ideal choice," said Jody Gunderson, board chair. "She brings many years of marketing experience to the organization. With her background in hospitality, tourism and business, she is uniquely positioned to represent the members of our Chamber. We are excited for this next chapter in our Chamber's future. We feel that Lisa's leadership and successful track record will keep the organization on a path of success."
Lisa is a graduate of Augsburg College (now Augsburg University) in Minneapolis, with a degree in marketing and business administration. She and her husband, Aaron, have two daughters, Emma (19) and Grace (16). They have called Northfield home since 2007.
