A legendary northwestern Wisconsin resort is closing — again.
Last month, members of the Telemark Interval Owners Association approved the sale of the Telemark Lodge in Cable to Telemark Partners.
But, an association member says the buyers haven't been able to meet deadlines to deposit earnest money, confirm funding and set a closing date, or provide funding for continued operations. So, Telemark Lodge, including the hotel, restaurant and lounge, will close May 5.
Telemark has a history of financial difficulties and closed twice before. Board president Gary Grandall tells KQDS-TV they'll continue talks with Telemark Partners and other possible buyers.
Telemark was built in 1947 and is home to the annual Birkebeiner cross-country ski race, which attracts thousands of participants.
