National event center chain headed to West Des Moines
A new 10,000-square-foot events and conference center is headed to the west side of West Des Moines.
Noah's Event Center, a Utah-based national chain, is planning to break ground on undeveloped land just south of University Avenue at 1805 90th St., behind the Shoppes at Greenway Crossing, where small businesses like Gusto Pizza and Crown Cleaners are located.
The company specializes in offering diverse space for various functions, such as weddings, business gatherings, birthdays or reunions, according to Noah's webpage.
The site lists sixteen different Noah's locations in the country, half of which are in Texas.
Noah's officials were not immediately available for comment about the company's first proposed site in Iowa.
Noah's announced plans for a $24 million national expansion with eight new sites in January 2013, when the company operated only five locations, according to a Globe Newswire report.
The West Des Moines Planning and Zoning Commission on Wednesday is expected to review a two-acre plot for rezoning and a site plan for the event center.
