When it reopens in August 2014, the historic Edgewater hotel in Madison, Wis., will have 45,000 square feet of meeting and event space, it announced this week.
Currently undergoing a $100 million renovation and expansion, the Edgewater originally opened in 1948 and will have 202 guest rooms when its current renovation is complete.
Meeting offerings will include the Grand Ballroom, for up to 800 guests; the Gallery pre-function area; a 1,300-square-foot outdoor terrace for up to 70 guests; a boardroom; and a second ballroom, the Mendota Ballroom, for up to 120 guests.
What’s more, new additions to the hotel will enrich the property with 30,000 square feet of new outdoor event spaces, including the Grand Plaza for large-scale events, the 1,300-square-foot Langdon Courtyard, the 2,800-square-foot rooftop Langdon Club and the Sky Bar, which will be located on top of the hotel’s new tower, the Wisconsin Building.
Along with new venues, the hotel plans to appeal to groups by offering tours of Madison’s Lake Mendota — adjacent to the hotel — by vintage watercraft.
