InterContinental Hotels Group announced plans for a Holiday Inn Resort® hotel in Pagosa Springs, adding to the growing global Holiday Inn Resort® brand portfolio, currently at 40 properties worldwide.
This announcement comes on the heels of the recent opening in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., as well as a new resort under construction on Jekyll Island, Ga. – both announced earlier this year.
“We are thrilled that the Holiday Inn Resort brand continues to expand and build a strong presence in key leisure destinations,” said Joel Eisemann, chief development officer, the Americas, IHG. “These properties further strengthen the reach and presence of the Holiday Inn® Portfolio of Brands and are backed by the quality and service guests have come to expect.”
The Holiday Inn Resort Pagosa Springs hotel is slated to open by summer 2015, following extensive renovations by the ownership. The three-story property will have 101 guest rooms including 11 suites. Guests can take advantage of complimentary internet access, 8,500 sq. ft. of meeting space with the largest room accommodating up to 200 people, an indoor pool, fitness center and a business center.
Nestled in the San Juan Mountains, guests can enjoy access to activities available year round such as golfing, rafting, horseback riding and ATV rides. Additionally, skiing and snowboarding activities are available nearby at Wolf Creek Ski Area – boasting more average annual snowfall than any other resort in Colorado. The largest snowmobile tour company in the area – Wolfcreek Snowmobile Tours – also operates out of the resort.
“The Holiday Inn Resort brand is one guests have come to know and trust, aimed at providing family vacation experiences that create lasting memories at our diverse group of properties,” said Heather Balsley, senior vice president, Americas Core Brands & Brand Operations. “The Holiday Inn Resort Pagosa Springs is an ideal property to add to the growing brand portfolio as it offers many leisure activities and entertainment right on property and in the surrounding area for the entire family to enjoy.”
4Hoteliers Image LibraryThe Holiday Inn brand was conceived as a way to bring the joy of travel to families in a fun, affordable and comfortable way. The brand’s innovative approach changed the way millions of people travel, and ended up bringing the whole world together. Now, over 62 years later, the brand continues to evolve to meet the demands of today’s traveler.
That’s why IHG invested in the $1 billion Holiday Inn global brand relaunch, the largest in hospitality history, which included the transition of the Holiday Inn Resort brand from the Holiday Inn SunSpree® Resorts brand in 2007. The relaunch continues to drive increased quality and consistency across the global portfolio.
