Hotel by State Fair Park to begin construction in early August
Foundation work is expected to start early next month by Wisconsin State Fair Park on a 101-room Hampton Inn & Suites that received final West Allis design approval Wednesday.
The $13.3 million project is planned at West Greenfield Avenue and South 82nd Street and has been in the works since summer 2012. Patrick Schloss, West Allis community development manager, said footing and foundation work will start in early August. Building construction will ramp up after State Fair ends.
Owners of the Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort in Wisconsin Dells are developing the project. The four-story building will include a 9,200-square-foot conference center.
The hotel is being built on a former industrial site that the city acquired and cleaned for redevelopment. The sale of the land to the hotel developers will close soon, Schloss said.
The West Allis Plan Commission in Wednesday approved the hotel’s design and layout.
