Heartland Realty Investors has acquired the Holiday Inn Minneapolis Metrodome and plans to extensively renovate and rebrand property.
Minneapolis-based Hearthland closed on the deal Tuesday, according to Paul Wischermann, president of Wischermann Partners Inc., the Minnetonka firm that now will manage the hotel. The seller was Capitol Hotel Group Inc.
Terms were not disclosed.
Wischermann said the hotel's new brand will be announced at a later date. For now, it will operate as simply Hotel Minneapolis Metrodome.
The 265-room hotel, located at the intersection of Interstate 35W and Washington Avenue, ranked No. 19 on the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's most recent Top 25 List of Hotels.
This is Heartland's first venture into the hospitality segment. The company owns apartment buildings in 13 states, including three properties in Minnesota.
