Greg Leonard, general manager of the AAA Four Diamond [Grand Hyatt Denver, announces a $28 million redesign of the 516 room hotel located on 17th and Welton Streets. “Essentially, this is the opening of a new hotel, an industry leader, making a great property even greater," Leonard said. This downtown Denver Colorado hotel marks its 25th anniversary with the comprehensive makeover, with planned completion in the spring of 2013.
The lobby, defined as a place to socialize and entertain, will be revitalized with stacked fireplaces embedded in chiseled stone, hand tufted rugs and a wood canopy ceiling. A distinctive onyx feature wall will be the backdrop for a sculptural root table that serves as a personalized and welcoming registration desk, presenting a new concept in how the hotel’s staff greets arriving guests.
Light figures, sconces and wall coverings, flooring and more provide a décor in keeping with the iconic stature of the 38th floor Pinnacle Club to complement its panoramic views of the city and Rocky Mountains. This downtown Denver banquet facility is one of the only ones in the United States windowed on all four sides and presenting a 10,600 mile view that spans from Wyoming to Pikes Peak. Additional changes to meeting and event space of the newly renovated hotel also include the Grand Hyatt Denver Conference Center, located on the second floor of the adjoining office tower and overlooking the 17th Street business and financial district. The hotel’s lobby level Mt. Sopris meeting room receives a new look as well.
All 516 spacious guest rooms and suites will have natural material upgrades, rich textures and warm, modern furnishings that provide the framework for the newly renovated, residential-style guest rooms. The environmentally conscientious design calls to mind this Colorado destination with ceruse oak headboards, tree branch inspired accent lighting and a signature buffalo art piece adorning the wall, enhancing a color palette of Aspen tree golden hues and the cool blues of the High Plains sky.
