Cobblestone Hotel opened this week in Crookston

This week a new Cobblestone Hotel opened in Crookston. This is the first Cobblestone hotel to open in Minnesota, the hotel chain currently has 6 in North Dakota.

City Administrator Shannon Stassen says Crookston's lodging industry increased by 20 percent in 2012 and expect last years numbers to be similar. The city hopes adding the 44 new hotel rooms will help keep people from traveling to Grand Forks for lodging.Crookston City Administrator Shannon Stassen said, "We are going to be able to keep all of those people who come here for wonderful activities in Crookston, staying in Crookston, eating in Crookston, buying their fuel and everything else right here in town."The Crookston Inn, which is next door to the new Cobblestone recently had extensive remodeling done, to make it a more attractive place to stay.
